 Hosting > General Questions

Can additional domains be pointed to my main domain?
Yes. We can alias (park) additional domains to point to the same main page as your master domain and it will also share the same mail system. There is a one-time $50.00 set-up fee for each domain you add as an alias. You just need to email your request to support@urtechnet.com

What are your Network capabilities?
Our clients are hosted on a fiber optic network, which connects to the Internet through 5 redundant DS-3 multi-homed connections. This high-speed connectivity combined with exceptionally fast and reliable Dual Pentium III servers, guarantee fast access to all web sites housed within our network, and 99.9% uptime 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

What Operating System and Server Software is being used?
All of our UNIX based systems run a customized version of RedHat with the powerful Apache Web Server and Apache SSL Server for secure transactions. Our Windows 2000 based systems run on Windows 2000 with IIS 4.0 or Windows 2000.

What type of hardware is being used?
For maximum reliability all our servers are custom-built using the best components currently available in the industry. Since there are constant improvements in the hardware industry, we ensure that we upgrade all our systems every 3-4 months, thereby providing you access to the latest machines equipped with fast processors and lots of memory and storage space.

How is billing handled?
Every month we send you a consolidated invoice/statement for the charges that you have accrued for that month.

What is the cost for additional logins?

The following are one-time set-up fees:

  • POP - FREE

  • FTP/POP @ $15.00/each

  • Telnet/FTP/POP @ $30.00/each

What is a MX and CNAME record?
A CNAME is an alias for a real domain name. Thus, if boblovesyou.com.com is a CNAME for bob.com, accessing fredsogs.com would be the same as accessing bob.com. That is, you would arrive at the same place. CNAME's, however, do not h ave their own server space or userid's. You cannot send mail to an address at a CNAME. CNAME's must also be registered with a domain registration agency in order to resolve.

MX records specify a list of hosts that are configured to receive mail sent to a domain name. Every host that receives mail should have an MX record, since if one is not found at the time the mail is delivered, an MX value will be imputed with a cost of 0 and a destination of the host itself.

With the PowerPak how will the URL appear?
The visitors to the site will just be typing in the the aliase domain name.

Example:

Main domain - bob.com
Subdirectory domain - chris.com

A vistor types in http://chris.com or http://www.chris.com and automatically goes to http://chris.com/chris/.

Depending on the browser the visitor will see one of the following in the navigation window of there browser.

  1. http://chris.com/

  2. http://chris.com/chris/

What is your DNS information?
Primary Name Servers: NS.PROPAGATION.NET 216.221.160.10
Secondary Name Servers: NS2.PROPAGATION.NET 216.221.162.106
